LECCO – Come anticipato ieri, è fuori pericolo il ciclista USA di 42 anni Christopher “Chris” Horner, investito venerdì pomeriggio in una delle gallerie della Strada provinciale 72 a Fiumelatte, località di Varenna.
Ricoverato in Rianimazione al “Manzoni” di Lecco, il campione americano che si stava allenando lungo il lago ha riportato la perforazione del polmone destro, traumi e una ferita alla testa oltre alla frattura di quattro costole. Da ieri è stato trasferito per la normale degenza e potrebbe essere dimesso entro la fine della prossima settimana.
Indagini sono in corso da parte della Polizia Stradale per individuare l’automobile investitrice, dato che come riferisce il comandante Mariella Russo, il conducente non si è fermato per prestare soccorso a Horner – terminato violentemente a terra dopo lo scontro.
“Mancano testimoni oculari dell’incidente – dichiara il capo della Stradale di Lecco – oltretutto quella galleria è priva di telecamere e scarsamente illuminata”. E’ stato sentito direttamente il ciclista coinvolto: “Era ancora sotto shock quindi non è stato ancora in grado di fornire elementi decisivi per poter risalire all’auto e ricostruire la dinamica dell’incidente”.
